Gloria Anzaldua says: “By creating a new mythos – that is, a change in the way we perceive reality, the way we see ourselves, and the ways we behave – la mestiza creates a new consciousness. The work of mestiza consciousness is to break down the subject/object duality that keeps her prisoner and to show in the flesh and through the images in her work how duality is transcended. The answer to the problem between the white race and the colored, between males and females, lies in healing the split that originates in the very foundation of our lives, our culture, our languages, our thoughts. A massive uprooting of dualistic thinking in the individual and collective consciousness is the beginning of a long struggle, but one that could, in our best hopes, bring us to the end of rape, of violence, of war.”

Informed by  the legacies and experiences of our ancestors The New Mythos is an exploration of the new narrative of our time; based on the spaces between what has been and what will be, by those straddling dualities & multiplicities, daring to tell our own truths, vision our own futures and manifest our own feminist prophecies.

The tour will be a documented multi-city (dialogue/interview/ workshop) project moving between the Northeast and the Southwest.  At each visit we will discuss: What are the spaces that revolutionary m/others and community caregivers are straddling?  How are they integrating truth-telling, spirituality and well-being into their movements? What are the many movements they are involved in and how do these intersect? What influences do we carry into our work via our relationships to our ancestors, our spiritual guides & mentors and to our own understanding of our highest selves? And,  how do we articulate a new narrative of our time? This will be an opportunity to engage with this exploration while creating and distributing radical truth-telling alternative media pieces along the way.

Video documentation will be shared along the way— so stay tuned for more info about where you can watch vlog updates!

Born from the many conversations that I’ve been having with radical m/others and community caregivers in preparation for the upcoming  Allied Media Conference’s INCITE!/ To tell you the Truth Track , The New Mythos Tour explores the new mythos (as defined above) and creates a space for articulating points to the radical platform by radical m/others and community caregivers already involved in the work.

The tour will help support the frame- work for To tell you the Truth’s:  New Mythos Project a collaboration with a National crew of radical m/others , mamis and community caregivers and includes: The New Mythos Tour,  The National Call-In’s, the AMC track,  a radical m/other’s convening and celebration, the upcoming USSF and and ongoing collaboration between track contributors and radical m/others who may not be able to attend the AMC.

Want to support? Here’s how:

Host a dialogue/interview/workshop (better known as I want to meet  YOU!!!! <3)

I’m traveling a Northeast to Southwest route and am arranging sessions in some of  these towns/cities/states: Philly, Atlanta, Durham, Savannah, Mississippi, New Orleans, Austin, El Paso, Albuquerque.   There may be a session in the works and maybe you can collaborate to support that session!  These don’t have to be HUGE events, in fact, intimate dialogues are FANTASTIC! I want a chance to build with you and learn about you, your community,  family and work!  Participants will be asked to contribute on a sliding scale. There are varying rates of support for these sessions, here’s some suggestions:

Colleges and Universities- Do you have a radical student group on campus that wants to participate in this dialogue and explore some ways to integrate truth-telling into their work? – $1000- 3000

Community Center/Non-profit- $200 -500

Living Rooms/Kitchen Tables-  sliding scale (suggested 10 and up per person) SOOOO —gather your peoples, feed a sister, share some sunshine and I’m SOOOO there!!!

All suggested prices are really suggested.  This is a fundraiser for the project AND your vision/energy/warmth and love are HUGE donations already. So, we can work something out FORSURE.
